چکیده
Abstract: Background: Essential oils are currently the subject of intensive scientific study, and their potential as active medicinal compounds or natural preservatives has attracted attention cosmetic pharmaceutical industries. Objectives: The objectives present study were: to develop a emulsion based on different concentrations synthetic preservative essential oils, applied preservatives; evaluate subsequently compare stability antimicrobial activity. Materials Methods: Various samples were prepared using methylparaben, well. fresh evaluated immediately after preparation related organoleptic physicochemical testing. behavior light tests, accelerated microbiological tests well performed for four weeks storage. Results: During test, formulations loaded with 2% not stable was noted variation in color liquefaction second week storage at 40°C; rheological showed significant decrease viscosity, varying from 4890±34.7 3720±37.9. For all samples, pH levels within physiological skin range, it varied 6.01±0.33 6.92±0.19. self-preserving activity emulsions satisfactory. Conclusion: Cosmetic concentration 1% promising stability, physico-chemical characteristics, selfpreserving properties, conditions. provide novel alternative preservation “paraben-free” products. Application of essential oils as natural cosmetic preservatives
Nowadays, safety of chemical preservatives has been questioned by a big number of consumers. Traditionally used preservatives often cause skin irritation and lead to allergenic reactions. Growing demands for more natural and preservative-free cosmetics promoted an idea of the replacement of synthetic preservatives with essential oils (EOs) of antimicrobial properties. The antimicrobial effect o...
متن کاملAntimicrobial activity of plant natural extracts and essential oils
The use of natural products with curative aims is a common practice in any culture worldwide. It is mainly due to the activity of some extracts that they contain (terpens, essential oils, coumarines, flavonoids, etc.). The main aim of this chapter is to describe the techniques that allow evaluating the antimicrobial activity of plants extracts and their essential oils against bacteria and fungi...
متن کاملAllergy to selected cosmetic ingredients
In an era in which cosmetics are commonly used, their often prolonged contact with the human body should determine the safety of their use. Often cosmetics are the cause of many side effects, mainly hypersensitivity reactions. Common groups of cosmetic components responsible for side effects are fragrances, preservatives and dyes. This paper focuses on the most allergenic components.
متن کاملLipoxygenase Inhibitory, Antioxidant, and Antimicrobial Activities of Selected Essential Oils
Objective: To evaluate lipoxygenase inhibitory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial activities of selected essential oils. Materials and Methods: Essential oils were obtained by hydro distillation using a Clevenger-type apparatus and oils composition was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Lipoxygenase inhibitory activity of essential oils was evaluated by lipoxygenase inhibition assay...
متن کاملAntimicrobial activity of some Satureja essential oils.
The genus Satureja is represented by fifteen species of which five are endemic and Satureja pilosa and S. icarica have recently been found as new records for Turkey. Aerial parts of the Satureja pilosa, S. icarica, S. boissieri and S. coerulea collected from different localities in Turkey were subjected to hydrodistillation to yield essential oils which were subsequently analysed by GC and GC/M...
